FOREIGN LANGUAGES TEACHING CENTRE |
FOREIGN LANGUAGES TEACHING CENTRE ul. Poniatowskiego 1, 20-060 Lublin, Poland tel./fax (+ 48 81) 531 83 19 Head: Grazyna Roguska, M.A. Welcome! Salut! Willkommen! Privet! Buongiorno!
The Foreign Languages Teaching Centre of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin (FLTC) provides language courses for the university undergraduate and postgraduate students. We also offer language courses, coordinated by the Continual Education Centre, preparing for TELC exams. FLTC is an official TELC Certification Centre organizing examination sessions offering a chance of obtaining an international language certificate. Veterinary students also attend an obligatory Latin course. At present most faculties provide their full-time students with a course in one chosen foreign language (120 hours) lasting four terms. At some faculties there is also an obligatory course of a second foreign language (60 hours). Part- time (extramural) students also have foreign language courses in their syllabus – their length differs depending on the programme of studies at a particular faculty. Each obligatory language course at our university involves a module (10-30 hours depending on the level of a course) of language for specific purposes including the specialist language of a given field of study. We aim at providing our students with efficient foreign language skills to help them build successful careers in the future. While teaching foreign languages we also make an effort to enhance interpersonal skills in our students and raise their intercultural awareness: these qualities being key concepts on the international labour market nowadays. FLTC is a member of the Association of Academic Foreign Languages Teaching Centres SERMO.
